Wisconsin Legalises Pedal Taverns!
You might have noticed one of those in our Bicycles VS Apartments thread from last year because those Pedal Pubs are not a new thing. They exist for a while now, but the laws regulating them are unclear. Back in 2012, Pedal Tavern co-owners Derek Collins and Ryan Lloyd got in trouble with the city of Milwaukee for allowing passengers to drink beer on pedal pubs while circulating on the public roads.
The city explained that state law allowed alcoholic beverages in large vehicles like buses and limousines only. But as of January 1st, 2014, the state of Wisconsin added the pedal pubs to the list of public places where drinking alcohol is permitted. On the above photo, a group of enthousiasts went for a ride to celebrate on January 1st. As soon as those things make their way to a city near you, make sure they install bike racks on them. Wouldn't that be awesome?
